Have You Ever Seen Mandalas Made With Human Bodies??? [See Photos & Video]

I really love and enjoy mandalas. I have drawn quite a few personally and find it a very soothing and meditative experience. I’ve also seen some absolutely incredible, stunningly beautiful mandalas made by others. But this… this is really cool and unique. Mandalas made with human bodies! The photos here are from a group called “The Human Mandala Project”.

As defined by google: Mandala is a geometric figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism.

According to wikipedia: Mandala (Sanskrit: मण्डल Maṇḍala, ‘circle’) is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the Universe. The basic form of most mandalas is a square with four gates containing a circle with a center point. Each gate is in the general shape of a T. Mandalas often exhibit radial balance.

“The mandala is an archetypal image whose occurrence is attested throughout the ages. It signifies the wholeness of the Self. This circular image represents the wholeness of the psychic ground or, to put it in mythic terms, the divinity incarnate in man.” — Carl Jung

A quote from The Human Mandala Project website: “The Human Mandala Project began as a way to bring people together to explore collaborative yogic posture as a way to create art. The inspiration came after I attended a Principle Based Partner Yoga workshop with Elysabeth Williamson. I was amazed at how our bodies can create such intricate, dynamic shapes. As the process began to take form, I began to see some of the universally sacred geometries in the shapes that we were creating.”
